Our Values

The Secure Our Schools Foundation believes:

Resilient Schools Initiative

Gun violence in schools has become an urgent and devastating national issue that demands our immediate attention and action. As a society, we have a fundamental obligation to protect our most vulnerable members, our children, and ensure that their learning environments are safe, nurturing, and free from the threat of gun violence.

The tragic reality is that students across the country are growing up practicing active shooter drills, while educators are increasingly expected to transform from nurturers to first responders at a moment's notice. This unacceptable situation not only jeopardizes the physical safety of our youth but also inflicts lasting psychological trauma that can hinder their development and well-being. To fulfill our moral duty to the next generation, we must come together as a community to implement comprehensive, evidence-based solutions that address the root causes of gun violence and create truly safe schools for all students.

The Secure Our Schools Foundation (SOS Foundation) has teamed up with HeyHQ, a leading school-safety tech company, and the Bureau Consortium, a group of retired FBI agents who have experience in school shootings and major school incidents. This unprecedented team is employing a three-layered approach to protecting our school children:

The SOS Foundation’s Three Layer Approach To Campus Security:

    • Join the experts at the Bureau Consortium who help students, parents, students, faculty, and school administrators to appreciate the role each plays in prevention of violence. This includes learning the precursors to violence, how to share information, and with whom. It includes empowering the important role each plays in targeted violence.

    • Work with school districts to instill best practices into Emergency Response Plans and district policies & procedures.

    • Share how students, parents, and teachers can learn to see something and say something to report anyone threatening violence in the schools.

    • Provide the latest critical event management safety technology for schools to best prepare and act upon any critical threat and/or incident.

    • Automate existing policies and procedures to reduce the latency of response from minutes to seconds.

    • Utilize standard APIs to integrate information from external sources and to provide relevant information to external organizations.

    • Coordinate response activities among on-site faculty and staff as well as appropriate district personnel and external agencies, as appropriate.

    • Provide complete record of the response for analysis and training purposes.

    • Experiential school site and district accounts of incidents and responses for optimization of existing procedures and/or training syllabus.

    • Ongoing assistance from our tech support staff and industry experts

    • Quarterly and annual reviews

    • Vendor referrals

    • Guides

    • Media requests

The SOS Foundation strives to help protect our schools, students, and faculty by providing the latest tools and resources for them to best prepare and act upon any critical threat and/or incident. Onboarding a school can be done in less than a week. We have successfully helped one school district reduce their active shooter alert and response time from several minutes to just a few seconds.

The SOS Foundation and the Resilient Schools Initiative works with local communities to help reduce programing costs and implementation for schools. Please join us as we try to curb this national tragedy. To learn more about how to get involved or support the foundation please contact Nick Salis at sosfound.org
